Sail Across Lake Geneva at Bol d’Or Mirabaud this June 2019
- Event: Bol d’Or Mirabaud
- Date: June 14th -16th
- Venue: Lake Geneva
What’s 123 kilometres long, involves people from 14 countries and only works on water? Here’s a clue: you’ll need your sea legs (or should that be lake legs) on?
Whether you’re staying with us while it's on, are visiting the city and only just heard about it, or need accommodation for the weekend, Fraser Suites Geneva has all the information you need about this year’s regatta.
What is Bol d’Or Mirabaud?
One of the most prestigious regattas in Europe, if not the world, the 81st edition of Bol d’Or Mirabaud sets sail across Lake Geneva for a weekend of nautical fun.
It’s a sailing race where teams compete to go from one end of Lake Geneva to Bouveret and back again. Over 500 teams take part.
What makes it unique is that the Lake Lemen crossing in the race is a “free” cross, allowing teams to pull off any tactics they want to get ahead. The fastest time recorded is 5:01:50; carried out by Peter Leuenberger in 1994 and not beaten since.
When is Bol d’Or Mirabaud?
The Bol d’Or Mirabaud takes place from the 14th-16th of June 2019. It will be the 80th Anniversary of the original regatta back in 1939.
Where is Bol d’Or Mirabaud?
The majority of events take place down by Lake Geneva at the Société Nautique de Genève (SNG) clubhouse. It is common on the last two days of the regatta, on the Saturday and Sunday, for the clubhouse to be open to the public to come down and see the action for themselves.
Where can I find accommodation near Bol d’Or Mirabaud?
We’re not too far away from where the action happens. If you just need a good base for the weekend and know you’ll be spending a lot of time out and about, you’ll want to look at one of our Single Deluxe Studio rooms. They have views facing the Rue du Marché and come with sliding doors from the living room to the bedroom if you need extra privacy.

How can I get to Bol d’Or Mirabaud from Fraser Suites Geneva?
We are less than two miles from Société Nautique de Genève. For anyone who is here over the weekend and fancies going along just to see what the event is all about, you can take a leisurely walk along Quai Gustave-Ador and get there in about 40 minutes. You can also take the number 2 bus just around the corner from the hotel from Molard.
A taxi or rideshare from Fraser Suites Geneva to the Regatta will take 18 minutes as cars have to drive up Quai de Cologny before they can make a turn to enter the clubhouse from the correct side of the road.
